Hellenic Studies scholarships – The Hellenic Studies Program offers two scholarships to students currently enrolled full-time at Sac State. The Senator Nicholas Petris Scholarship is given to undergraduates who are pursuing Hellenic Studies and offers awards of up to $2,000.00. The Constantine Mitsotakis Scholarship is a second scholarship that will be open to both undergraduate and graduate students who have shown especial promise and academic excellence.
2015-2016 PETRIS SCHOLARSHIP
Senator Nicholas C. Petris is a civic and political leader who was dedicated to supporting public education, and he was the first California State legislator of Greek descent. In honor of Senator Petris, the Sacramento State Hellenic Studies Program will be granting several scholarships to outstanding undergraduates who have completed at least one course that is part of the Hellenic Studies Minor and are currently enrolled full-time on campus.
The minimum scholarship amount to be awarded is $1,000
Application deadline: April 08, 2016
Criteria:
- Open to any undergraduate major
- Minimum overall GPA: 2.75
- Currently enrolled full-time on campus
- At least one course taken from Hellenic Studies minor (need not be declared minor to apply; for list of courses see URL below)
All applicants are required to submit the following:
- Transcript of grades at Sacramento State and/or community college (unofficial copy acceptable).
- List of courses you have taken which are part of the Hellenic Studies Minor, with grades.
- An essay of two double-spaced pages responding to the following: ‘After reflecting on your university coursework, travels, and/or cultural experiences, explain how Hellenic Studies has contributed and will contribute to your academic and professional development.’
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
